Bronycon 2015
Within mere weeks of Twilight's completion, we rushed off to Bronycon 2015. Although I am writing about this nearly 10 years after the fact, it was still fairly memorable as an exciting time to be part of the fandom; Bronycon hit over 10,000 attendees, music and videos were still constantly being made, and there was no shortage of vendors of any kind. That year Twi and I rode in a van up to Baltimore with Corpulent Brony and MyLittleWaifu and her friends, and of course her Twi.
Part way through the journey we stopped to pick up a friend of Corp's. An already full van got even more crowded! Then after a full day of traveling we stopped in West Virginia. We would continue on the next morning.
After several more hours of driving we would arrive in Baltimore
Reaction to Twilight was frankly incredible. If I was surprised by the number of comments on protoTwi being big at GrandBronyGala, the attention at Bronycon was not something I was ready for. I kept getting stopped and asked for pictures, boops, and endless "That's a big Twilight!" comments. Those would persist throughout the con, and quite frankly the next couple times before lifesizes started becoming a fairly common occurance. Despite being big, she was certainly not the biggest however...
Supposedly that big one weighed 50lbs, and the guy had an assistant to help carry her.
Both Twi's spent a lot of time together, even doing a photoshoot
This year, Twi and I had access to a press badge and were able to sit in on several press events. As part of that, Twi got to take her picture with M.A. LaRson and Amy Keating Rodgers! I'm just glad Larson didn't sign her!
At some point during the con, we ended up at the Luna del Sea resturant, and had our first crab cakes!
We would return here later for the Anthology 5 spaghetti dinner, which had some awkward one on one time between Jhaller and Twi... because what spaghetti dinner wouldnt be awkward at a pony con.
After several days of horse shenanigans, it was time for our first trip together to end. At the time, I had planned to make a new Twilight for myself after gaining several commissions from the convention. Little did I know she would become my travel companion for over a decade and still going strong.
